The Tuosist genealogy group have been documenting all the historic families of the parish and their descendants up to the present generations, worldwide. Our dataset contains details of about 40,000 Tuosist-linked people. Since most families had a member who married locally, there are many connections between families, so the data is easily represented in a family-tree type structure on the Ancestry.com site. About 2000 of the entries on the tree have DNA test profiles, ie the profiles are associated with their historic Tuosist families. That is helpful in finding the right Tuosist ancestors based on your own DNA matches. This is a task which can be particularly difficult for those with the most common family names – Sullivan/O’Sullivan, Shea/O’Shea, McCarthy, Sheehan etc. The tree was constructed based on the public birth, baptism, marriage death and census records. We are reviewing it with the locals to add and improve. We welcome corrections and additions.
Anyone who would like to consult the tree can request access via the Tuosist Genealogy Facebook group. We do not share details of living people.
Pat Sheehan has compiled complete birth records for Tuosist and Bonane 1844-1923. These can be downloaded from the shop for free.
